Fiber laser cutting for job work and production runs
Sheet metal is cut to customer drawings at the Ferum facility in Vasai East, for OEMs, contractors and manufacturers across Mumbai, Thane, Vasai-Virar and the rest of India. There is no minimum order, so a single prototype bracket is accepted as readily as a monthly supply of nested parts.
The 1500 × 3000 mm bed takes full standard sheets as well as smaller nested jobs, in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and copper. Feasibility for each part is confirmed from the drawing. See infrastructure to check whether a part fits the bed.
Parts that are commonly laser cut
- Brackets, gussets and mounting plates
- Flanges, rings and base plates with bolt-hole patterns
- Enclosure and cabinet panels with louvres, cut-outs and vent slots
- Machine guards and perforated screens
- Copper busbars, earthing strips and electrical parts
- Flat blanks that go on to bending, welding or machining in the same order
- Stencil lettering and logos cut through panels, as on the Avior Aqua units
What to send
A DXF or other CAD file gives the most accurate price. A PDF drawing, a dimensioned sketch or a clear photo of an existing part is also enough to start. Drawings can be uploaded on the contact page. Include:
- Material and grade, such as MS, SS 304, aluminium or copper
- Quantity, and whether the order will repeat
- Any bending, welding or finishing needed after cutting
- Delivery location
No drawing yet? A paid drawing-preparation service turns a sketch or sample into a production-ready file. The guide on preparing a DXF for laser cutting lists the file problems that slow jobs down.
Choosing a material
Each material suits different work. Mild steel is the economical choice for frames and brackets that will be painted. Stainless steel resists corrosion for housings and outdoor parts. Aluminium keeps covers and panels light. Copper carries current for busbars and earthing parts. The guide on choosing a material for laser cutting compares them, and what drives laser cutting cost explains pricing.
From cut part to finished component
Cut parts move straight into bending, welding and assembly in the same facility, so a bracket or panel goes from flat sheet to finished part without changing suppliers. Buffing is done in house, and powder coating and painting are arranged through finishing partners.
Small jobs are often ready within a day. Larger orders usually take one to two weeks, depending on quantity and finish. Stock is held for regular repeat customers, and delivery is available anywhere in India at actual logistics cost.
