Press brake forming
Sheet metal is formed on a hydraulic press brake at the Ferum facility in Vasai East, for OEMs, contractors and fabricators across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Parts in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and copper can be bent to your drawing or dimensions.
Whether a part can be bent depends on its material, bend length and flange sizes together. Upload the drawing and feasibility is confirmed before quotation. If a formed section is not possible, an alternative such as a welded corner is suggested.
Parts that are commonly bent
- Enclosure and cabinet panels with returns and flanges
- Angles, channels and Z-sections
- Brackets, clips and mounting plates
- Machine guards, covers and trays
- Cladding panels for equipment
Bending your blanks or ours
Bending is offered on blanks you supply, or combined with laser cutting so a part goes from flat sheet to finished bend without leaving the facility. When cutting and bending happen together, the flat pattern is developed for the tooling, which removes a common source of size errors between vendors.
Drawings, sketches, dimensions or photos are all acceptable. For bent parts, a 3D STEP model or a drawing showing the inside bend radius and flange lengths gives the most accurate price.
Design points that help parts bend cleanly
These are common starting points, confirmed against the actual material and tooling for every job:
- Inside bend radius: a radius roughly equal to the sheet's own gauge is a practical default for mild steel.
- Flange length: very short flanges fall into the die, so keep flanges generous.
- Holes near bends: keep holes and slots clear of the bend line, or they stretch into ovals.
- Bend relief: small relief cuts where a bend meets an edge stop the corner tearing.
The guide to bend radius and flange length explains each rule.
Turnaround and delivery
Small bending jobs are typically turned around within a day, and larger orders take one to two weeks depending on scope. Stock is held for regular repeat customers. Formed parts can continue to welding and finishing in the same order, and delivery is available anywhere in India at actual logistics cost.
